Crested Butte Trip (Aug. '12)
Just like every summer, Sarah and I spent the last week in Crested Butte hiking, biking, and generally hanging out. With it being a down year for the wildflowers (due to the lack of snow in the winter), we decided to do a few hikes that were new to us. The first one (pictures 2-11) was to Copley Lake, a mere five miles from town. We had the place to ourselves, and it was an absolutely beautiful day with blue skies and no wind. The second day we hiked to the Crystal Mill from Schofield Pass (pics 12-23), a place we'd visited seven years ago- but from the other side. The hike was steep and fairly long (8 miles R/T) but well worth it! The last hike was called the "Three Lakes Hike" (#24-33), circling Lost Lake Slough, Lost Lake, and Dollar Lake. Again, we were the only ones there and the weather was perfect. The Crested Butte area truly is the most beautiful in the entire state, if not the country.
