Lake Isabelle- Indian Peaks Wilderness (Sep 2010)
On Saturday, Sarah and I escaped the Denver heat (90 degrees in September!) to head up to the high country and see the colors changing. We decided on one of our favorite locations, Lake Isabelle in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, despite knowing that there wouldn't be a lot of aspens on the trail. What the trail lacked in that category, however, it more than made up for with amazing views and great colors in the underbrush and lake-side grasses. The trail climbs to close to 12,000 feet and has great mountain views and lots of creeks and stream crossings, sure to keep us cool. To top if off, we even saw a moose a mere 30 feet off the trail in front of us, which is always a sight to see. I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.

There were some interesting rock patterns on the usually-submerged boulders we sat on for lunch. Usually, these boulders would be under water.
