Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park- Emerald Lake (Dec '12)
Sarah and I drove up to Rocky Mountain National Park this morning- now only 35 miles from our house. It was nice and cold when we left (0 degrees according to my car's thermometer), but by the time we got to the trailhead it had warmed up to a balmy 25 degrees. The hike we chose passed four lakes- Bear, Nymph, Dream, and ended at Emerald. Unfortunately in the winter, most lakes at 10,000 feet are frozen and don't look much like a lake. The scenery was amazing regardless, and it was a great day for the 4-mile hike. We only passed one other person on the way up, but by the time we turned around and came back down, we saw close to 100 people on the trail! It pays to get up early, I guess.
