St. John, US Virgin Islands (Feb 2011)
We headed down to St. John in the US Virgin Islands as part of an "extended" Mokan family vacation, and the island is as beautiful and pristine as I remember from several years ago. St. John is famous for its beaches and bays, and we made sure to visit as many as possible. Topping the list for this trip were Francis Bay, Hawksnest Bay, Waterlemon Bay (personal favorite), and a new destination, Salt Pond Bay on the east end. Each of these beaches has something different to offer in terms of scenery, beach, and snorkeling, and we all enjoyed each of them. It was a great week of relaxing, catching some rays, eating great dinners, and enjoying the company of family. Thanks again Mom and Dad (and Sarah, Ashley, Alan, and of course Sandy for watching our dogs at home in frigid Colorado) for a great trip!

Salt Pond Bay was very different- the shoreline seen here had jagged rocks and underwater cliffs that supported some pretty crazy snorkeling and marine life. It was a really cool place to spend a day.
